CHIROPRACTIC CARE
The goal of chiropractic care is to restore balance to your body by relieving tension, reducing pain, improving posture, increasing your range of motion, and building strength. Poor movement patterns and trigger point dysfunction can lead to decreased performance, injury, or both. Pain conditions like neck pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, back pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle and foot pain, and more, often stem from joint instability or limited range of motion. Each chiropractic treatment begins with a thorough movement assessment, where we observe activities like walking, squatting, or lunging to identify dysfunctional movement patterns. Assessment includes locating trigger point chains or patterns of muscle tightness and tension that can contribute to pain and limited mobility. Our approach includes a combination of effective treatments designed to restore function, including but not limited to:
• Joint Manipulation and Mobilization: Joint manipulation, or an adjustment, is used to restore movement to restricted joints in both the spine and extremities. Joints can become restricted due to factors like poor posture, trauma, or inefficient muscle activity. When a joint becomes restricted, nearby joints often compensate, leading to excessive motion, pain, and potential degeneration. Adjustments help release this restriction, improving joint mobility in ways that exercises or posture correction alone may not achieve. In addition to enhancing range of motion, joint manipulation can reduce pain and relax overactive muscles. If preferred, the practitioner can offer joint mobilization as an alternative, which involves applying gentler force and typically doesn’t produce the popping sound, often associated with adjustments.
• Soft Tissue Therapy: If tightness or pain in muscles, tendons, or ligaments is present, specialized soft tissue techniques can be utilized, including tool-assisted therapy and post-isometric relaxation (PIR) to release adhesions and improve tissue mobility.
• McKenzie Method: This method is particularly useful for spine-related issues like back pain, neck pain, or sciatica. It focuses on educating the patient on proper posture and exercises to manage pain and prevent it from coming back.
• Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS): DNS helps improve coordination of the muscles and nervous system, targeting conditions including, but not limited to, back pain and shoulder issues. The goal is to restore optimal movement, allowing the patient to move pain-free and perform at their best.
• Neurodynamics: For nerve-related conditions like carpal tunnel or sciatica, "nerve flossing" techniques can be used to improve nerve mobility and alleviate symptoms like tingling, numbness, or weakness.
Each treatment will be tailored to the patient's needs, as determined by the practitioner, to address the root causes of pain, restore function, and help the patient move better, so that they can perform at their highest level.
